Dean's Update September

Tuesday, September 22, 2020 - 12:30pm
We’ve almost made it to the half-way point of the condensed fall semester, students are still on campus and football is back! While I can’t invite you all to a big Husker Homecoming just yet, we are making plans to bring you together virtually.

Starting in October we will be hosting virtual reunion happy hours on Thursday evenings. Join your former classmates via Zoom with the beverage of your choice in hand to swap old stories and new career and life updates. Ever wonder what happened to that kid who sat behind you in Intro to Advertising? Maybe you’ll see him at the CoJMC Virtual Big Red Reunion! Lost touch with your study partner from Mass Media Law after graduation? Maybe you’ll see her at the CoJMC Virtual Big Red Reunion! Need an excuse to bring old college buddies together? Tell them to RSVP for the CoJMC Virtual Big Red Reunion!

We’re starting with our graduates from the 1950s and will work our way through the decades throughout the fall and winter. Watch your email for the invite or indicate your interest on our Facebook page. See old college friends and make new ones without leaving your home!

In this month’s newsletter, we highlight several new opportunities in the college and launch the One-for-One Scholarship, designed to provide mentors for our students with unmet financial need. We also take some time to brag about our two students who were named Omaha World-Herald Fellows and two faculty who were named Nebraska Governance and Technology Center Fellows. Finally, we celebrate those who are working hard to keep our community safe and connected with a new student organization, an old poker club and a community-wide initiative.

Go Big Red!
