Dear alumni and friends,

Mark your calendars! The 2025 Seline Memorial Lecture will feature CNN Chief National Affairs Correspondent Jeff Zeleny ('96) and Nebraska Examiner Editor-in-Chief Aaron Sanderford ('24). Their free public talk, "A memo from Washington: Why all politics are local,” will take place on March 27 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Nebraska Union’s Swanson Auditorium. Thank you to the Seline family for their ongoing support of our students and the future of journalism. We hope to see you there!

We also take a moment to celebrate Emeritus Professor Dr. Larry Walklin, who made a profound impact on broadcasting in Nebraska and was a dedicated advocate for students. Alumna Nancy Hickok ('71) fondly reflects on his influence in her life and the special opportunity she had to reconnect with him at a recent alumni event.

Our graduates are well-prepared for successful careers, but the communication skills honed at the J-school can also drive civic engagement. Alumnus Dave Nuckolls ('90) used his skills to make Lincoln streets a little quieter.

In this month’s newsletter you’ll also find features written by and about alumni David Spencer ('85) and Bridget Sims-Lewis ('91, '12), along with highlights on outstanding faculty and staff Ryan Tan and Jamie Wenz

We’re incredibly proud of our students who placed in the Hearst Journalism Awards Competition, won Paper Anvil Awards, were selected for the American Advertising Federation’s Most Promising Multicultural Students Program and earned scholarships from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation and Public Relations Society of America

We also congratulate our newest alumni class, with graduation spotlights on Luke Vie, Jasmine Hermosillo, Lauren Aleknavicius and Savanna Hebbert. See more alumni and career updates in Huskers on the Move and check out this recap of Ad Club’s 100th Anniversary celebration

Go Big Red!
