Graduating from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln means everything to Jasmine Hermosillo. A first-generation student from Omaha, Hermosillo has spent the last three and a half years diving into her advertising and public relations major and hospitality, tourism, and restaurant management minor to expand her knowledge and set herself up for the future.

She's worked on Red Bull's Nebraska Student Marketeer team for the last two and a half years and was named team lead after her first year.

In her role, Hermosillo managed Red Bull's brand presence through direct consumer interactions, product trials, on-campus events and region-wide events.

She's also been able to travel across the U.S. for the Kansas City NFL Draft, Minnesota's Showrun and multiple regional brainstorming sessions--including a leadership conference at Red Bull's headquarters in Santa Monica.

"This experience has given me so many opportunities to work in all aspects of the company, from marketing to sales, working branded events, as well as people and project managing," Hermosillo said. "This has shaped me into the person I am today and has helped me see myself working within the marketing field post-graduation."

In her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi--Zeta chapter, she served as director of recruitment and vice president of membership experience. She was also an ambassador for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

After graduation, she'll return to Omaha to focus on her job search. Her goal is to relocate and find a role that aligns with her career goals and allows her to apply the knowledge she's gained.

Hermosillo is grateful to Assistant Professor of Practice Dave Remund and Hospitality, Tourism and Restaurant Management Program Director and Associate Professor Ajai Ammachathram, who have inspired her throughout her time at UNL and taught her valuable lessons she knows she'll be able to apply beyond the classroom.

"The friendships, traditions, and unwavering support from classmates, faculty, and staff create a sense of belonging that's truly unmatched," Hermosillo said. "The energy throughout campus and the Husker pride is truly like no other."

For Hermosillo, the best thing about being a Husker is the community and graduating from the University means leaving a community that feels like home.
