The University of Nebraska–Lincoln celebrated eight entrepreneurs from across the state and beyond who positively impact the future of entrepreneurship. CoJMC alum Vern Powers ('84), CEO of Hastings Industrial Manufacturing, was honored with a new award, the Jeff Vaske Service in Entrepreneurship Award.

Dean's Update: August 2022

For our students, the start of the fall semester is filled with excitement and new opportunities. For our alumni, the start of the new school year likely stirs up fond memories of what college life was like “back in the day.” In my visits with alumni, I’ve heard stories of nefarious activities between the Kissing Columns, late-night food runs while live on KRNU and incredible newsroom take-overs during summer reporting classes. However, my favorite stories are about the impact our professors have had on the lives and livelihoods of students. Inspired by a conversation with 1969 grad Glenn Friendt, we collected stories about the impact Professor Al Book had on his students over the years. I hope you enjoy the stories as much as I did!

Five journalism and mass communications Huskers receive Pinnacle Awards

Five Huskers received gold in the college division of the 2022 Nebraska Broadcasters Association Pinnacle Awards, along with a number of CoJMC alumni and incoming freshmen. The winners received their awards during the Nebraska Broadcasters Association annual convention on Wednesday, Aug. 10.

2022 Recruitment Report

Following the completion of New Student Enrollment, we can begin to see the shape of our fall 2022 incoming freshman class, including first-time freshman and international students. The college saw an 18.4% increase in New Student Enrollment participation over last year, while the University’s NSE participation increase was only 1.6%.
