Domestic Student Travel

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications has updated the domestic student travel webpage to clarify the process for faculty and students.

The new webpage includes step-by-step directions for completing the required forms and obtaining needed approvals for all domestic student travel. The instructions include obtaining funding approval if college funds are requested, completing the required trip approvals, obtaining field trip insurance and seeking reimbursement for students. Please note that all domestic student travel requires dual approval per the University's COVID policy. This requirement is achieved when students complete step 4, pre-travel authorization and code of conduct.

If faculty are traveling with students, they must still seek authorization and submit any reimbursements using Concur.

The Student Field Trip Insurance form has also been converted to an online form that will route to the appropriate office based upon selections within the form. Specifically, if registered student organization funds (SOFS accounts) are funding the trip, the form will automatically route to the SOFS office. If university funds (cost centers) are funding the trip, the form will automatically route to the Office of Risk Management. Faculty will no longer need to email the completed form to appropriate offices.

Lastly, the page includes a guide to making travel arrangements for domestic student travel.

Please review this webpage and reference it when planning domestic student travel. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions about the webpage or the domestic student travel process, please contact Haley Hamel at haley@unl.edu.
