Shipley Retirement Reception is May 1

A reception for Linda Shipley, William H. Kearns Distinguished Professor of Journalism and professor of advertising, is 3-4:30 p.m. May 1 in the Heritage Room Nebraska Union. Shipley retires at the end of the academic year.

Shipley serves on the editorial boards of Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Newspaper Research Journal and Journal of Advertising Education. She represented the American Academy of Advertising on the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications from 2000 to 2006. She served on the council committee that developed the accrediting guidelines for a professional graduate program. She also provided guidance for the development of the outcomes assessment guidelines for ACEJMC. She also served on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Research Council and as chair of the Seed Grant committee.

In the fall of 2010, she returned to full-time teaching after serving as the associate dean for the college for 18 years.

The reception is free and open to faculty, staff, alumni and students.
