Senior advertising and public relations major Rachel Haufler of Topeka, Kan. was awarded a scholarship from the Nebraska chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) for the 2022-2023 school year.
Students who have engaged with AAF Nebraska and distinguished themselves through outstanding academics and personal excellence are encouraged to apply for AAF’s Nebraska scholarships.
The students eligible to apply for the scholarship must be in the first semester of their junior year and be an advertising, graphic design, marketing or communications-related major. They also must be interested in pursuing a career in the advertising field.
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants should have a 3.0 grade point average or above and participate in extracurricular activities, including an AAF-affiliated student advertising club.
Haufler has been a member of UNL’s Advertising Club ever since she transferred to CoJMC; she now serves on the executive team as the Director of Operations. Haufler was also the Strategy Director for the 2022 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team. The team won second place in the district competition.
Her involvement with NSAC led her to induction into AAF's Alpha Delta Sigma honor society. Like AAF’s Nebraska Scholarships, Alpha Delta Sigma encourages scholastic achievement in advertising studies.
This year, AAF Nebraska awarded $12,600 in scholarship funds to nine student members at five different Nebraska universities and colleges. Read more and see the scholarship recipients here.
