We made it! The fall 2022 semester is in the books.
During fall 2022, the college offered 103 different courses across our seven programs – advertising and public relations, broadcasting, journalism general, journalism graduate, journalism and mass communications core, journalism, sports media and communication.
While we offered 103 different courses, many had multiple sections to accommodate student demand. In fall 2022, the college offered 191 separate course sections in which students could enroll.
Most of our sections were offered at the 100 level, driven by the design communication requirement.
To offer our curriculum the college employed, 73 unique instructors of record.
Thirty-one instructors are permanent faculty members in the college, while 37 are in temporary positions – visiting professor, graduate assistant, lecturer or lecturer/t – and five were staff.
Permanent faculty taught 102 sections, while temporary faculty taught 74 sections and staff taught 15. Temporary faculty primarily teach in the journalism and mass communications core, journalism general and advertising and public relations.
Temporary faculty also primarily taught at the foundational level, with most courses at the 100 and 200 levels.
Across our courses, the college enrolled 4,647 students and generated 12,524 student credit hours. Our core (JOMC) courses accounted for 40% of our total student credit hour generation, followed by ADPR at 25 percent and JGEN at 13 percent.
Overall, 65% of our student credit hours were generated at the 100 and 200 level.
