Huskers on the Move: August 2022

Dave Berman ('22) joined the Gannett team as a full-time page editor where he'll be editing daily sports sections across dozens of Gannett newspapers.

Jessica Blum ('22) was hired onto the Channel 8 KLKN-TV crew as a multimedia journalist and fill-in meteorologist.

Kyle Doperalski ('05) was named the Assistant Executive Director at the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Randy Essex ('83) joined the Detroit Free Press as a team editor. He'll be overseeing health, environment and court coverage. See his most recent work here.

Madelyn Gardner ('21) started a new position at Brafton Inc. as a content writer.

Eden Gose ('21) was recently hired on to the redthread team as a graphic designer.

Kateri Hartman ('21) is a copywriter on UNL's university communications team. This month she received awards at their staff retreat for her writing and her ability to come up with constant, fresh ideas.

Drake Keeler ('22) joined the Hail Varsity team as a staff writer. He'll be covering Husker football, baseball and women's basketball.

Luke Mullin ('21) has been at the Lincoln Journal Star since August 2019 when he was still studying at CoJMC and covering Nebraska high school sports part-time. After graduating, he became a prep sports reporter in July 2021. Now, he's moving into a new role covering Nebraska football and baseball.

Ronald Ng ('93) was named the 2022 Creativity in the Metaverse and Evolution Jury President at the London International Awards this month. Ng is the Global Chief Creative Officer at MRM, a McCann Worldgroup marketing agency.

Jane Olson ('64) published a new book, World Citizen: Journeys of a Humanitarian.

Cassidy Taladay ('19) is a doctoral candidate in UNL's Communication Studies progam. Her thesis, Tales of love's perseverance: Family bereavement stories as a means to investigating impacts of end-of-life care on sense-making, received the Folsom Distinguished Master's Thesis Award. The award recognizes the outstanding research and creative accomplishments of the university's doctoral students.

Marlenia Thornton ('11) will start at Lincoln Public Schools as their new Communications Coordinator this August.

Natalia Wiita ('05) was named president and publisher of the Lincoln Journal Star. She was formerly the regional vice president of sales.

Kyra Willats ('19) is the new Wish Program Manager at Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.
