About Global Eyewitness:
Global Eyewitness offers an unparalleled chance to travel the world and craft compelling stories that bridge problems with possibilities. This program is designed for those who are courageous, compassionate, and humble, emphasizing the ethical responsibility to vividly narrate the diversity and depth of the human condition. Spanning two semesters, participants commit to extensive training and travel, including a significant trip during the winter break.
Program Structure:
- Fall 2024 Semester: Enrollment in JOMC 491 will cover bias in reporting, solutions journalism, and trauma-informed reporting, with a focus on Vietnam's history and culture. It culminates in a multimedia project based on fieldwork assignments. This one-credit-hour class will run from Oct. 28 to Dec. 16.
- Winter Break: A transformative trip to Vietnam to develop multimedia stories that spotlight local issues and initiatives.
- Spring 2025 Semester: JOUR 490B focuses on editing and producing in-depth multimedia stories that reflect on local problem-solving efforts and their outcomes.
