Four Husker journalism and mass communications students receive Pinnacle Awards

Four students received gold in the college division of the 2021 Nebraska Broadcasters Association Pinnacle Awards.

The following are first-place winners with their year in school or graduation year, major(s) and hometown:

  • Best Student Radio Public Service Announcement: “University Police / Date Rape,” Grace Seeman, junior, advertising and public relations, and broadcast production, Lincoln

  • Best Student Radio News Feature: “Nebraska Meat Packers Threatened By COVID,” Natalie Saenz, May 2021 graduate, broadcasting and journalism, Scottsbluff

  • Best Student Television News Feature: “Proposed PETA Billboard Targets Ricketts,” Damon Barr, May 2021 graduate, broadcasting with an emphasis in video production, Lincoln

  • Best Student Television Live Sports Event: “Nebraska vs. Minnesota Baseball,” Ryan Valenta, senior, sports media and communication, Lincoln

These students and a number of CoJMC alumni and incoming freshmen were honored during the closing ceremony at the Nebraska Broadcasters Association annual convention on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the La Vista Hotel & Conference Center.
