The Daily Nebraskan won second place for two College Media Association Pinnacle Awards – Website of the Year and Best Special Section.

“Our Health in Their Hands” won second place for the special section. This special report, published in the spring of 2024, focused on student health. Stories included mental health options, what health services student fees pay for and other trending topics.

Each year, The DN staff focuses on a topic and publishes it in a printed magazine for the spring endowment project. Past issues have included campus accountability, sexual health, Greek life and campus safety.

DailyNebraskan.com placed second for Website of the Year. The website earned more than 1.27 million pageviews and an average engagement time of 48 seconds per article during the 2023-24 school year, according to Allen Vaughan, The DN’s general manager.

The Pinnacle Awards were announced at the Fall National Associated College Press/College Media Convention in New Orleans.

The DN is the only student-run news publication at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It focuses on campus news, sports, culture and opinion but also follows breaking news and special investigative topics. The DN is financially and editorially independent of the university.
