Dean Shari Veil, senior advertising and public relations and journalism major Dulce Garcia and August 2022 graduate Erica Courtney were all nominated and named finalists for the eighth Inspire - Celebrating Women Leadership awards.

All 60 finalists were honored at the 2022 Inspire Awards event at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sept. 14. See this year’s winners here.

Veil was a finalist in the Excellence in Education category for her dedication to promoting understanding and engagement at UNL.

Garcia was a Young Leaders Award finalist. She was nominated for her passion for her community and commitment to positive change.

"Being nominated for the Inspire Awards is more than just an award. My hard work and sacrifice to help my communities feel seen, and I've been reinforced that what I'm doing is making a difference. I'm inspired and encouraged more than ever to keep pushing toward making the spaces around me more equitable."

Courtney was named a finalist in the Founders Award category for her work with StartupsUNL and UNL Women+ in Entrepreneurship. The Founders Award recognizes women who have created a project that betters the Lincoln community.

“I’m so honored to have been nominated and grateful for the recognition,” Courtney said. “I’m also so thankful I got to spend a day with the inspiring and empowering women that make up Lincoln’s community.”
