Celebrating the grants, fellowships and professorships recently awarded to faculty

Congratulations to Jessica Fargen Walsh who was awarded a college seed grant for her proposal, "Thematic Analysis of Local Coverage of Water Issues in Nebraska." Jessica was also recently named a faculty fellow at the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska. As a faculty fellow, she can apply for matching funds to help cover the cost of a research assistant for work that ties to the institute’s mission. Jessica hopes to use her faculty fellow status to research news coverage of water issues in Nebraska.

Congratulations to Chris Graves on receiving a grant from the Maude Hammond Fling Faculty Research Fellowship. The fellowship supports her research "Death in the Foothills: Love, loss and murder in Appalachia."

Congratulations to Frauke Hachtmann who was awarded the William H. Kearns Chair. She intends to study the effects of COVID-19 on the advertising industry and the use of computer mediated communication among female athletes.

Congratulations to Valerie Jones who was awarded the Fred A. & Gladys Seaton Professorship. Valerie plans to develop a Public Insight Lab to analyze social media sentiment and engagement.

Congratulations to Dane Kiambi who was awarded the Fred A. & Gladys Seaton Professorship. Dane is focusing on public diplomacy and international public relations.

Congratulations to Jessica Fargen Walsh and Jill Martin who were awarded a college seed grant for their proposal, "A study of retention and recruitment at weekly newspapers in states with news deserts."
