Rachel Nozicka joined the College of Journalism and Mass Communications as an Academic Advisor in November 2024.
She has worked with undergraduate and graduate students as an English composition and literature instructor and as a writing center tutor. In these capacities and in her leadership roles in graduate student government and on numerous university committees, she has helped students navigate academic and university life and advocated for students at all university levels.
Nozicka holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where she double majored in English and philosophy, a Master’s degree in literature from Creighton University, and a Ph.D. in eighteenth-century British literature from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Her advice to students is to get to know the people who ask you the hard questions. The tough questions about life have answers that matter, and people with different perspectives, who challenge and support you, will help you understand yourself and your answers in ways that help you grow.
In her spare time, Nozicka enjoys seeing her family and friends, watching movies, and digging into a good book.
