Since joining The Associated Press as a photo editor, Patrick Sison has worked with photographers covering events ranging from the Rwandan genocide to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the U.S., the subsequent war in Afghanistan, and protests against police brutality sparked by the death of George Floyd.
Interested in photography since high school, where he developed Tri-X film at home, he attended the University of Texas at Austin. There, he was a photographer and photo editor for both the school’s yearbook and The Daily Texan student newspaper, studying art and art history while working on a Bachelor of Journalism degree.
Most recently at the AP, he has been working with photographers and text colleagues on long-form enterprise and investigative stories, as well as galleries highlighting top work from the wire agency’s extensive report.
