Nora Heston Tarte is an instructor in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, teaching the Media, Ethics & Society course. She graduated with her master's in Professional Journalism from UNL in 2021 and has her bachelor's in journalism from California State University, Sacramento.
During her studies, Nora took a vested interest in media ethics and journalists' responsibility to their communities and the world. In a climate of social change, media ethics are more important now than ever.
Growing up in California, Nora is based in Reno, Nevada. She is the managing editor of San Joaquin Magazine and a freelance lifestyle writer contributing to publications including the San Francisco Chronicle, Bay Area News Group/San Jose Mercury, edible Reno Tahoe, Sacramento Magazine, Tahoe Quarterly, and more. Her niche is travel, food and wine writing.
When Nora isn't working, she's spending time with family—she has a son and two dogs with her significant other—and traveling the world. Her hobbies include hiking, yoga, reading and writing; if she's not home, she's probably in Lake Tahoe, just a quick jaunt from her hometown.
