Photojournalist Kenneth Ferriera began his career at the Lincoln Journal Star after graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2020. Before graduating, Kenneth placed in the Hearst Journalism Award competition for multiple years for photography and multimedia. In 2020, he placed third in the photojournalism championship. He was part of the Global Eyewitness program and told stories from Puerto Rico, Mongolia and Rwanda.  His work from these countries earned Heart awards  

He has worked in Nebraska for eight years for different publications such as the Cedar County News, Omaha World-Herald, the Greensboro News and Record and the Lincoln Journal Star during internships and full-time status. 

Ferriera has also been a Great Plains Photography award winner and part of the team that has won a Grand Slam award from the Associated Press Sports Editor competition for news organizations that receive top-10 honors in all categories.  

Today, Kenneth works as a daily news photographer while doing freelance work on the side. He loves to be involved in community events and seek out what stories interest him. He has a calico cat named Bean and a labradoodle named Cowboy.
