Kait Van Loon is the marketing and communications coordinator for the College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In her role, she manages all of the college’s social media accounts, does content creation and graphic design, as well as website upkeep. Her daily responsibilities include writing stories for the news section of the college's website, crafting press releases about events, awards, and other community accomplishments, planning and promoting events, and handling email communications for the college. Van Loon also produces the weekly student newsletter "Today@CoJMC," the monthly alumni newsletter, and "The Adviser," the monthly newsletter for families of CoJMC students.

Van Loon played a significant role as a co-chair on the Mission, Vision, and Values task force during the college's strategic plan development in the 2020-2021 academic year. The team successfully rewrote the college's mission and vision statements and redefined CoJMC's values. She was also part of the inaugural Research and Creative Activity committee during the 2021-2022 school year and will participate in the first Student Competitions committee for the 2022-2023 school year. Van Loon was promoted to marketing and communications coordinator after just one year at the college.

Van Loon graduated from CoJMC in December 2019 with a degree in advertising and public relations. Before graduating, she worked as a social media and content intern for UNL's University Communications department, primarily managing social media accounts. She began her full-time career with CoJMC in January 2020.

During her college years, Van Loon gained valuable experience through various internships focused on marketing and communications. She worked with notable Lincoln-based companies and organizations such as Ameritas, The Lincoln Children’s Zoo, Bulu, and The Rural Futures Institute.
