Derek Hernandez is the director of brand & buzz at NoRedInk, a position he has held since May 2024. His career spans over a decade, showcasing his expertise in developing and executing marketing campaigns that drive engagement and growth.

Hernandez has also served as the faculty director of strategy at Jacht Agency, a student-run ad agency at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, since January 2023. In this role, he guides account executives, brand strategists, and social media strategists in meeting client needs. Previously, he was the faculty creative director at Jacht Agency, advising agency videographers, graphic designers, and copywriters on client creative deliverables.

Before joining NoRedInk, Hernandez was the founding marketer (senior marketing director) at Knack, where he established the marketing function for the early-stage edtech startup and oversaw B2B and B2C marketing strategies. He also held the position of director of brand & content at Mentor Collective, managing the brand across all channels and developing content strategies for the startup.

Hernandez's career includes a notable tenure at Hudl, where he progressed from content marketing & public relations lead to head of brand marketing. At Hudl, he created programs that raised brand awareness and led a team to deliver a cohesive brand journey for the company's target audiences.

In addition to his roles in education and startups, Hernandez founded No Coast Bias, a platform for sports and pop culture content, and served as growth marketing director at Summitsoft Corporation and digital communications & growth marketing director at Godfather's Pizza.

Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His skills include brand strategy, content development, social media marketing, and creative direction.
