We’re proud to announce career entrepreneur and philanthropist Jay Wilkinson (‘88) as our 2025 Alumni Master. The Alumni Masters program honors University of Nebraska-Lincoln alumni who have shown great promise, success and leadership, while strengthening the Nebraska tradition.
Wilkinson tries to turn businesses not just into profit engines, but also forces for good. He’s founded 13 companies, most recently, Lincoln-based Firespring — Nebraska’s first Certified B Corp. He's also the founder of the Do More Good movement, a nonprofit attempting to foster a global shift toward ethical and sustainable business practices.
Wilkinson is a founding board member of the Nebraska Angels, an investment group that supports and mentors local entrepreneurs and start-ups. He and his wife Tawyna Starr-Wilkinson live in Lincoln.
Wilkinson will visit campus April 9-11 for Masters Week. Alumni Masters is a program sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association, the Student Alumni Association and the UNL Chancellor's Office. Outstanding alumni from each UNL college return to campus to share their experiences and knowledge with students through class speaking engagements, meetings and workshops.
Wilkinson, along with Alumni Masters from each UNL college, will be recognized for their accomplishments and contributions to the university at the annual Medallion Dinner on April 11.
