Three current College of Journalism and Mass Communications students earned scholarships from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation for the 2021-2022 academic year. The recipients are:

  • Olivia Ramaekers, junior, broadcasting and sports media and communication
  • Kylee Sodomka, junior, broadcasting and sports media and communication
  • Kellen Sturgis, junior, broadcasting

“One of our favorite tasks of the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation is recognizing students actively pursuing a career in broadcasting through awarding scholarships,” said Ami Graham, Nebraska Broadcasters Association board chair and general manager at NRG Media in Lincoln. “Once again, we are amazed at the talent across the state and look forward to the time when these students enter into the workforce full-time to share their passion for broadcasting.”

The NBAF offers scholarships to assist students enrolled in radio and/or television broadcasting or broadcast journalism educational programs at designated colleges, universities or technical colleges in Nebraska. Students meeting our requirements were encouraged to apply, with a panel of NBA board members reviewing each application. Scholarship levels are $2,500.00 (NBA Foundation Scholarship); $3,500 (Dick Palmquist Scholarship) and $5,000.00 (Marty Riemenschneider Scholarship). The number of scholarships and total dollar amount awarded each year is at the discretion of the NBA board of directors, based on application quality and quantity. More than $300,000 in college scholarships have been awarded by the NBA and NBAF since the NBA first began awarding college scholarships in 1977.
