Student Worker Reviews are due May 1

March 19, 2022

To support the professional development of our student workers, it is expected that supervisors will complete a review with each student worker at the end of each term. Spring reviews are due by May 1.

How does the review work?

  1. Supervisor provides the student a student review form and asks them to complete it and return it to the supervisor by a date determined by the supervisor.
    1. This is an opportunity to for the student to engage in self-reflection.
  2. Supervisor also completes the supervisor review form.
  3. Supervisor meets with the student to review and discuss the student’s performance.
    1. The supervisor should make note during the conversation of any recommendations for professional development.
    2. Supervisors should speak with the student about extending their appointment if appropriate.
  4. Supervisor submits both the student’s completed form and their completed form to obtain signatures and then send for filing.
    1. Supervisors should not submit the forms until they have been reviewed with the student. Nothing in the forms should surprise the student when they receive the form to sign.
    2. When submitting the form, supervisors should be prepared to indicate if the student has achieved an additional year of service from the start of their position (if they have and they meet expectations they will receive a $.25 raise) and if the appointment needs to be extended.

Appointment extensions and/or raises will not be processed without a submitted review. If you have any questions about the student worker reviews, please contact Haley at haley@unl.edu
