Recent faculty accomplishments: June 2021

Assistant Professor of Practice Kaci Richter, took second place at the National Federation of Press Women awards in the Talk Show: Radio category for the Talk Box episode of her show, The Mixtape. Richter also helped produce a podcast series, KRNU: A retrospective, which chronicles the 51-year history of the college's student-run radio station, 90.3 KRNU. 

Assistant Professor Jessica Fargen Walsh's story, "Nebraska towns pay millions to fight nitrates as water bills go up," which ran in the Omaha World-Herald in May 2020, placed second in the North American Agricultural Journalists annual story competition. 

Professor Barney McCoy has a story, "Pandemic Porch Concerts Use Music to Chronicle Highs and Lows," air on Nebraska Public Media. 

Professor Laurie Lee presented a paper, “A New Era of Antitrust: A Means to Protecting Consumer Data Privacy?” at the 14th World Media Economics and Management Conference. The paper was an analysis of how antitrust law may be used to protect consumer data privacy interests in the U.S. after similar efforts have been taken in Germany and in light of renewed interest in an antitrust standard that prioritizes competition instead of prices.
