The broadcasting, journalism and sports media and communications majors voted unanimously on Friday, Nov. 19, to approve a proposal to establish a faculty committee to coordinate and oversee student awards submissions from their programs.
The committee will consist of six members, two from each major. Working together they will track available student competitions and deadlines, review work submitted either through the college content spreadsheet or the new award submission form, select entries and coordinate submission with students and awarding organizations.
The new committee representatives are:
- Rick Alloway, broadcasting
- Maria Marron, journalism
- Jill Martin, journalism
- Barney McCoy, broadcasting
- John Shrader, sports media and communication
- Jason Stamm, sports media and communication
Faculty can encourage their students to submit their work for consideration, by promoting the use of the college-wide content spreadsheet in their courses. For those who do not use the spreadsheet, students can also submit work through a new awards submission form.
Additionally, faculty can track upcoming student competitions on a new webpage. The list of student awards will be maintained by committee members. If an opportunity is not included, faculty should contact their representatives on the committee.
