KRNU Studio Upgrade Timeline Announcement

Things are moving forward on the KRNU Upgrade. Here are the details and the current calendar for the project (all dates subject to change):

Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13

Move audio booths 205, 206, 207 and 208. This will be done one at a time, making sure that only one audio booth is unavailable at a time. The moves will happen in this order:

  1. Remove remaining equipment from storage room 242 and temporarily move it to room 15 storage.
  2. Remove equipment from room 206 and relocate it to room 217.
  3. Remove equipment from room 207 and relocate it to room 218.
  4. Remove equipment from room 208 and relocate it to room 317.

 

Monday, March 16 - estimated 3 weeks

Construction begins in room 242, 205, 206, 207 and 208.

  1. UNL IT department pulling cables from the first floor to rooms 242, 201, GM’s office, 205, 206, 207, 208, 248 and 249.
  2. Jamie will remove equipment from room 205. Move the SPL computer to room 249 and use this room as the temporary studio for KRNU2. We are waiting to move this equipment to this date to prevent disruption to KRNU and Unlimited Sports basketball, soccer, baseball and softball coverage.

 

Monday, March 30 - estimated 1 week

Broadcast Depot on site in room 228 to configuring equipment and placing it in racks in room 242. 

  1. Jamie and Broadcast Depot will prepare for temporary use of room 206 as the main KRNU studio.

 

Friday, April 3 - estimated

Construction completed in rooms 205, 206, 207 and 208.

 

Monday, April 6 - estimated

Set up temporary furniture in rooms 206, 207 and 208. 

  1. Set up audio equipment and mics in these rooms.
  2. Testing and configuration.
  3. Remove window between GM’s office and room 205. Set up a temporary barrier between the rooms, cover with sound dampening blankets.
  4. Set up room 205 for KRNU2 Broadcasting with Telos audio equipment and SPL automation computer.
  5. Set up room 206 for temporary KRNU Broadcasting with Telos audio equipment and SPL automation computer.

 

Monday, April 13

Remove equipment from rooms 201, 248, 249

 

Monday, April 20 - Friday, May 8

Construction begins on rooms 201, 248 and 249

 

Monday, April 27

Broadcast Depot furniture install in rooms 205, 206, 207 and 208.

Broadcast Depot stores furniture for rooms 201, 248 and 249 in room 228.

Broadcast Depot installs new transmitter at Oldfather Hall.

RCS on site to configure Zetta automation.

 

Friday, May 8

Construction completed.

 

Monday, May 11

UNL CoJMC elevator project begins.

Broadcast Depot on site for furniture install and configuration of rooms 201, 248, 249.

 

Monday, May 18 - Friday, May 22

RCS and Broadcast Depot training and prepare switchover from SPL to Zetta.

 

Tuesday, May 26

Zetta automation GO LIVE date.
