Huskers win gold at Nebraska Broadcasters Association Pinnacle Awards

Four Huskers won gold at the 2024 Nebraska Broadcasters Association Pinnacle Awards. The winners received their awards during the Nebraska Broadcasters Association annual convention on Aug. 7 in Lincoln.  

The following Huskers won gold in the Pinnacle Awards. They are listed by hometown, including their year in school, major(s), division, award categories, and entry title.  

Sterling, Nebraska: Clare Arter, senior, journalism, college student radio division, Best PSA: People's City Mission 

Basehor, Kansas: Chloe Bogard, senior, broadcasting, college student radio division, Best News Story: Governor Pillen & Journalist 

Lake Bluff, Illinois: Connor Clark, 2024 graduate, broadcasting and sports media and communication, Best Live Sports Event: Nebraska vs. Michigan State Men's Basketball 

Jonesborough, Tennessee: Treyson Marler, junior, broadcasting and sports media and communication, college student television division, Best Sports Story: Billie Andrews Finds Passion 

"Our students' achievements at the Pinnacle Awards highlight their dedication, talent and hard work," said Ken Fischer, assistant professor of practice and member of the Student Competitions Committee at the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications. "These awards reflect the high standards of excellence we strive for in our program, and we couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments."  

The Pinnacle Awards program was established in 1958 to recognize and encourage excellence in broadcasting and service to the community by Nebraska radio and television stations.  

"We are grateful to the Nebraska Broadcasters Association for their unwavering commitment to the future of broadcasting in Nebraska," said Shari Veil, Jane T. Olson Dean. "Their recognition of our students' work underscores the vital role that organizations like the NBA play in developing the next generation of media professionals. The opportunities and encouragement provided by the Pinnacle Awards inspire our students to strive for excellence and make a meaningful impact in broadcasting."
