Huskers named finalists in NBS National Student Electronic Media Competition

Huskers were named finalists in seven categories of the National Electronic Media Association’s National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition on Feb. 11. 

Emma Krab, a junior journalism and English double major, was selected as a finalist in the audio feature segment category for her story, “COVID Test Preps for UNL.” 

Kloee Sander, a junior broadcasting major, was selected as a finalist in the video feature segment category for her story, “Nebraska Harvest Time.” 

Krab, Shreyoshi Ghosh, a journalism and mass communications master's student, Olivia  Taylor, a senior journalism major and Iman Farid, a journalism and mass communications master's student, were selected as finalists in the podcast category for their work on State of Waste Episode 2: Digital Debris

Sam Brodersen, a senior broadcasting major, and Colin Thieszen, a senior broadcasting and psychology double major, were selected as finalists in the video instructional/corporate/promotional category for their story, “The Piano Man.” 

Bailee Gunnerson, a junior broadcasting major, and Thieszen were named finalists in the video comedy segment for their video, “Hot Noods.” 

Peyton Thomas, senior broadcasting, sports media and communication and journalism triple major, was selected for the audio sports segment category for his story, “Husker Profile: The Pick-Up Soccer Ecosystem.” 

Grant Hansen, a junior sports media and communication and broadcasting double major, was selected as a finalist in the live sports production (audio) category for his story, “Play-by-play, Fort Calhoun vs. Fremont Bergan basketball.” 

The Husker entries will compete against two to three entries from other colleges and universities from across the country for a grand prize. Awards will be announced at the 80th annual National Electronic Media Association convention on March 31.
