Anna Jo Bratton
2003 News Ed
Bratton was named U.S. Enterprise Editor on the Associated Press Global Enterprise Team. In additon to producing high-impact journalism for the country and for international audiences; in her new role she will identify and help manage a portfolio of collaborations with AP customers and nonprofit news organizations in the U.S.

Paige Cornwell
2019 Journalism
Cornwell was one of the Seattle Times reporters who worked on a series of stories about the first COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. at Life Care Center of Kirkland. The article was announced as a finalist in the Breaking News category for the Scripps Howard Awards.

Randy Gordon
1976 Journalism, History, Political Science
Gordon is president and CEO of the National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) since 2012, will retire from the association on Mar. 31, 2021 following a nearly 43-year career at NGFA. See Gordon’s retirement announcement from the January/February 2021 Grain Journal.

Kellan Heavican
2018 Broadcasting
Heavican joined the Brownfield Ag News team as an anchor/reporter. So far in his career he’s won Nebraska Broadcasters Association, Iowa Broadcast News Association and Eric Sevareid awards for news writing, play-by-play announcing, breaking news coverage and feature writing. Abbie Petersen
2018 Broadcasting
Petersen is now working as a reporter for Omaha’s KETV NewsWatch 7. In her previous role as a reporter at KOLN/KGIN 1011 News in Lincoln, she won two Heartland Emmy awards. See the full story here.

Incoming Students

High school senior Sophia Walsh is the Editor-in-Chief of the North Platte High School student newspaper “The Bulldogger”. She will enroll at CoJMC starting in Fall 2021. When her high school wouldn’t publish her article, she refused to back down and instead got it published in the local newspaper. See the story here.
