Guest speaker program brings alumni back to the classroom

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communication launched a guest speaker program in July 2020 to bring alumni back to the classroom. While faculty have always brought local alumni in as speakers, the move to online classes allowed faculty to bring in alumni from all over the world.
Alumni volunteer for the program by providing information on their careers and areas of expertise. Faculty and alumni work together to coordinate visits to classes that best suit the alumni while enhancing the students’ learning experience.
More than 20 college alumni volunteered in the first three months of the program.
