Chris Graves, Deepe Family Chair in Depth Reporting and assistant professor of practice, and Matt Waite, professor of practice, received Family & Friends Recognition Awards during a celebration on March 6. Waite was also honored for five years of recognition.
The award recognizes faculty and staff who have made a significant difference in students’ lives. Nominations are submitted by parents, family and friends of students and are anonymously shared with each recipient. Certificates of recognition for contributions to students are given during the ceremony.
The honors provide encouraging feedback to campus faculty and staff about their impact on students. They also show the power of positive student and faculty relationships, giving recognition in an area often overlooked by formal rewards systems.
The annual recognition ceremony was organized by the Office of Student Affairs and co-sponsored by the Teaching Council and the Parents Association.
