Five journalism and mass communications Huskers receive Pinnacle Awards

Five Huskers received gold in the college division of the 2022 Nebraska Broadcasters Association Pinnacle Awards, along with a number of CoJMC alumni and incoming freshmen. The winners received their awards during the Nebraska Broadcasters Association annual convention on Wednesday, Aug. 10.

The following first-place winners and their awards are listed with their year in school or graduation year, major(s) and hometown:

 

Best Student Television Live Sports Event: UNL Women's Basketball: BTN + Student

Connor Clark (left) is a junior sports media and communication and broadcasting double major from Lake Bluff, IL. Matt McMaster (right) is a junior sports media and communication and broadcasting double major from Skokie, IL.

 

Best Student Television News Feature: COVID Curtains on Broadway Shows

Alayna Verduyn graduated in May 2022 with a major in broadcasting and an emphasis in journalism. Her hometown is Clive, Iowa.

Luke Weidner graduated in August 2022 with majors in advertising and public relations and journalism. His hometown is Norfolk, NE.
