Executive Director of the Radio Television Digital News Association to speak on April 5

Dan Shelley, Executive Director of the Radio Television Digital News Association will speak with students at 3:35 p.m. on April 5 via Zoom. Shelley will discuss the good and bad roles U.S. media play in spreading or helping thwart disinformation. 

Shelley is a longtime member of the RTDNA. Before becoming executive director in 2017, he served as chairman of the board and foundation secretary/treasurer. Shelley had a long career in radio management including serving as senior vice president of digital content strategy for iHeartMedia, senior vice president at Interactive One and director of digital media at WCBS-TV in New York among others. 

RTDNA is the world’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to broadcast and digital journalism. RTDNA works to protect the rights of broadcast and digital journalists in the courts and legislatures throughout the country, promotes ethical standards in the industry, provides members with training and education and honors outstanding work in the profession through the Edward R. Murrow Awards. RTDNA defends the First Amendment, advocates for open government and freedom of information, and promotes diversity in newsroom staffing and coverage
