Nebraska College of Journalism and Mass Communications junior Justin Diep of Omaha was awarded the William Woo Print and Online News Internship Grant from the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA).
The grant supports Asian American and Pacific Islander students pursuing journalism careers in print or digital news and helps to cover summer internship living costs.
Diep, a journalism, broadcasting and advertising & public relations triple major, spent the summer working at the Omaha World-Herald as a news intern, reporting on just about everything—from local news and crime to education, politics and weather.
After completing his summer internship—during which he covered the Glenn Valley Foods ICE raid and Fremont industrial plant explosion—Diep was invited to continue working at the World-Herald as a part-time intern for the school year. In addition to his work for the Omaha paper, he is a senior news reporter and photographer at The Daily Nebraskan.
