Dear Alumni and Friends,

We were thrilled to welcome so many of you back for Homecoming weekend. It was great to hear alumni, faculty and friends swap stories and share memories from their time at the college.

This month, we celebrated the generosity of our scholarship donors and the achievements of their student recipients at our fourth annual Scholarship Brunch. We also recognize alumna Keri Mesropov (‘92), newly appointed to the Nebraska Alumni Association’s Council of Alumni Ambassadors, and Bridget Anderson (‘17), Robyn Burnison (‘18), Lydia Coulson (‘25) and Paige Stanard (‘19), who were selected for this year’s Young Alumni Academy program. Congratulations to all our Huskers on the Move!

Faculty and staff have been busy as well! Dr. Kelli Boling published research on the impact of true crime media on the family and friends of crime victims, and Dr. Frauke Hachtmann, one of 45 community co-curators for the “Go Big Red” art exhibition, reflected on her place in Nebraska. Our assistant director of recruitment, Alex Fernando, was also featured for his Husker spirit.

We celebrated six faculty and staff members at this year’s Celebration of Service —special thanks to Rick Alloway for serving as emcee—and recognized our recent professors and student of the month.

Our students continue to shine. The Daily Nebraskan was named a finalist for the Associated Collegiate Press’ Innovation Pacemaker award, Justin Diep earned a national scholarship from the Asian American Journalists Association, Josh Warner was named Homecoming royalty finalist, Slade Reese was on the winning team of the eighth annual Innovation Challenge and Ellie Volk was selected for the 10th cohort of the Clifton Builders Program.

In the latest issue of Nebraska Quarterly alumni Jackie Ostrowicki (‘98, ‘22) and Ellen (Hirst) Wichman (‘12) share their stories. You'll also find “Ninety Nine Things We Love About the University of Nebraska,” which was written, edited and designed by: Kirstin Swanson Wilder (’89), Mia Everding (’20, ’22), Quentin Lueninghoener (’06) and Ben VanKat (’06), and the inspiring story of Connor O’Dell (‘19) whose free T-shirt led to a life-saving bone marrow donation.

If you’re looking to sharpen your industry skillset, consider registering for the Engineer Training Academy on Nov. 12 or the Nebraska Career Catalyst on Nov. 20. As always, our doors (and inboxes) are open to you for career support or to share your latest updates.

Go Big Red!
