Two student groups from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, Jacht Agency and the UNL Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), earned 10 awards on Dec. 2 at the Public Relations Society of Nebraska (PRSA) Paper Anvil Awards.
PRSA Nebraska’s Paper Anvil Awards program is an annual competition that recognizes programs and projects demonstrating excellence in the public relations profession. The awards competition is open to all communications practitioners who reside in Nebraska.
The college’s award winners are:
- Award of Merit in Community Relations: UNL PRSSA for the campaign, “The Civility Effect”
- Award of Excellence in Integrated Communications: UNL PRSSA for the campaign, “The Civility Effect”
- Student Award of Merit in Outstanding Branding Campaign: Jacht Agency for the Malone Branding Campaign
- Student Award of Merit in Outstanding Campus Event: Jacht Agency for Husker Dialogues Campus Event
- Student Award of Merit in Outstanding Community or Nonprofit Event: UNL PRSSA for the 2020 Gratitude Gala Event
- Student Award of Merit in Outstanding Community or Nonprofit Event: UNL PRSSA for the UNL Black Student Union Fundraiser
- Student Award of Excellence in Outstanding Professional Development: UNL PRSSA for the campaign “The Civility Effect”
- Student Award of Merit in Outstanding Social Media or Electronic Media Outreach Campaign: UNL PRSSA for the #PR Hunt Social Media Campaign
- Student Award of Merit in Outstanding Strategy to Address a Problem: Jacht Agency for their Jacht Recruitment Campaign
- Student Award of Merit in Outstanding Video: Jacht Agency for the McNair Scholars Video Campaign
Jacht Agency is the College of Journalism and Mass Communications student-run advertising agency. Assistant Professor of Practice Jemalyn Griffin is Jacht’s director and was last year's faculty adviser for UNL PRSSA, a recognized student organization at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
