Senior advertising and public relations and broadcasting student Brenna Doherty designed the 2021 Virtual Perry Photojournalism Challenge graphics, the theme this year is “Mother Earth”.

Doherty originally designed the graphics when she was a junior interning at University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s communications department as a digital content specialist.

She spent a year there before getting an opportunity to work at Lincoln advertising agency redthread as a digital marketing specialist where she still is today.

Doherty was the project manager for the 2020 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team.

“Brenna went above and beyond to ensure our success,” NSAC teammate Hannah Alohaid said. “Her organization, communication, and management skills were greatly valued. You can always count on Brenna to go the extra mile for her team and clients.”

The NSAC team won a silver Nebraska American Advertising Award in the student Cross-Platform, Consumer Campaign category for their work on their campaign “Adobe: A New Dawn.”

As a junior, she served as the Vice President and Treasurer for UNL’s Advertising Club (Ad Club). Then at the end of the Spring 2020 semester, she was voted in as President of Ad Club.

Doherty and the Ad Club executive team won a silver Nebraska American Advertising Award in the student Out-of-Home and Ambient Media category for their poster campaign “The Ad Club Experience”.

“Last year we worked really hard on transitioning Ad Club to a covid-friendly format,” Doherty said. “Being recognized for our hard work with an Nebraska American Advertising award makes the experience even more special.”
