Alumna Morgan Holen earns Miss Nebraska title

Monday, June 14, 2021 - 12:30pm

Congratulations to Morgan Holen who was crowned Miss Nebraska Sunday, June 13 in North Platte, NE. Her platform “Lead With Your Strengths: The Power of Strengths-Based Mentoring” is something she’d been refining since she was crowned Miss Omaha in October 2019.

“To say this is a dream come true is a complete understatement,” Holen said in an interview with The North Platte Telegraph, “It is everything I could have ever imagined.”

Mentoring is a big part of Holen’s life. As an ambassador for the TeamMates mentoring program, she incorporates what she’s learned as a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach to guide her mentees.

Holen has been an ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for six years. And she’s also a coaching ambassador at RISE Lincoln, a nonprofit that brings together women who are business leaders in the Lincoln community.

Her love for dance led her to be a dance instructor in Lincoln while juggling her role as a dancer on UNL’s Scarlets Dance Team. Going into Holen’s senior year, she was voted team captain where again, she was able to provide support and mentorship for her team members.

Holen graduated from UNL in May 2020 and studied broadcast journalism and advertising and public relations while at Andersen Hall. Her senior year she was a social media strategist at Jacht Agency, the director of recruitment for her sorority Chi Omega, the staff advisor for the National Human Resources Institute (NHRI) Leadership Mentoring and a staff and morale leader for Dance Marathon on UNL’s campus.

Holen is now pursuing a masters in business administration at UNL’s College of Business. She’s also a Digital Marketing, Web and Design intern for the University of Nebraska and the Marketing and Public Relations Specialist for House of Colour Lincoln.
