Haley Hamel is the director of business and operations and chief of staff for the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. She oversees all business and operational functions in the college including budget preparation, financial management, human resources, facility/plan management, IT operations, communications and student services.

Hamel joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013. In 2020, she co-founded the Big Red Business Center in partnership with the College of Architecture, Hixon-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, Academic Services and Enrollment Management, the UNL Libraries and the Office of the Executive Chancellor. She is the recipient of the 2020 Nancy Kenney Academic Business Leader Award from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Before joining the college, she served as the director of scheduling for the Office of United States Senator Ben Nelson. She holds a bachelor’s degree and Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
