Since 1970, 90.3 KRNU, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s campus radio station, has been a vital training ground for future broadcasters, offering hands-on learning to build their skills and confidence. To enhance the station and secure its future, we are undertaking a major renovation to provide cutting-edge technology, upgrade the secondary webstream for expanded digital broadcasting, and refurbish five audio booths for professional-grade production, ensuring KRNU’s enduring legacy of excellence and innovation.

Overview

The KRNU Renovation Project is designed to enhance the educational experience for students involved with 90.3 KRNU, the UNL Campus Radio Station.

For over 50 years, KRNU has provided practical learning for students pursuing careers in broadcasting and media. Students gain hands-on experience producing a variety of content, from music shows to news segments and sports coverage.

The renovation will include all-new equipment, ensuring our students can access the latest technology. Additionally, the secondary webstream will be upgraded, allowing for expanded digital broadcasting capabilities and greater reach. The project also encompasses the refurbishment of five adjoining audio booths, providing students with modern, professional-grade environments for recording, editing, and producing content. These improvements will ensure that KRNU maintains its legacy of excellence and innovation.

What KRNU meant to our students:

1994 Alum

Kevin Kugler

“KRNU was the first place I could ride with my training wheels on without fear of crashing and burning."

1966 Grad

Lynn Grasz Hall

"The wire said President Kennedy is dead. I took it and I went on the air and I announced that. I'm glad the university had an outlet where I felt like I was doing something important."
