Mike McKnight has been a dedicated reporter at WOWT-TV since January 1977, bringing nearly five decades of experience in journalism to the station. Throughout his illustrious career, McKnight has worked in various capacities, including general assignment reporter, state bureau chief, and 6 On Your Side reporter. His commitment to investigative journalism and news photography has earned him numerous state and national awards, including an Emmy nomination and a UPI National Award. He has won gold or first place in almost every reporting category in Nebraska and beyond, with accolades from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association, AP, and the Midwest Broadcast Journalism Association. McKnight is also honored to be inducted into two Halls of Fame.

McKnight has covered nearly every major story in Nebraska since the mid-1970s, establishing himself as a trusted voice in the community. His reporting has taken him beyond state lines; in the mid-1980s, he reported from Central America with the Nebraska National Guard and from Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield. Since 1983, McKnight has also been a familiar presence on the sidelines as an end zone photographer for Husker Football games.

In addition to his reporting duties, McKnight enjoys mentoring the next generation of TV journalists through his involvement with Nebraska Nightly, helping to shape the industry's future with his wealth of experience and knowledge.
