Three faculty in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications earned promotions in 2022. Joseph Weber, the Jerry and Karla Huse Professor of News-Editorial, earned a promotion from associate to full professor. Alan Eno and Katie Krcmarik earned promotions from assistant to associate professors of practice.

Weber joined the college in 2009 as an assistant professor of journalism. He teaches courses in reporting, editing and financial journalism. Before joining the college, Weber spent 35 years working in magazines and newspapers. He spent most of that time reporting and writing for Business Week, starting as a correspondent in Dallas and then running the magazine’s bureaus in Philadelphia, Toronto and Chicago. Weber is the author of three books, “Transcendental Meditation in America: How a New Age Movement Remade a Small Town in Iowa,” published by the University of Iowa Press, “Divided Loyalties: Young Somali Americans and the Lure of Extremism,” published by the Michigan State University Press and “Rhymes with Fighter: Clayton Yeutter, American Statesman,” published by the University of Nebraska Press.

Eno joined the college in 2010 as a lecturer. He became an assistant professor of practice in 2014. He teaches courses in communication design and video production. Before joining the college, Eno worked as a multimedia producer and graphic designer at both a television broadcast company and a print-based publishing nonprofit. Eno was instrumental in launching a video production department in the college’s student-run advertising agency, Jacht, where he continues to serve as the production director. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Andrews University and a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Krcmarik joined the college in 2016 as an assistant professor of practice and coordinator of the college’s communication design program. She teaches courses in communication design and serves as the creative director for Jacht. Before joining the college, Krcmarik worked as a graphic designer in print, web and video at a variety of organizations. Her hard-bound thesis book won a Gold Award and Judges Choice Award in the AIGA Nebraska 2018 design competition, a local Gold Addy and was a winner in Flux Student Show. Her work has also been featured in the Annual Great Lakes Regional Community College Exhibition and Art Prize. Krcmarik holds a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University, a master’s degree in studio art from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in educational technology from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in graphic design from Vermont College of Fine Arts.

The promotions will be confirmed at an upcoming meeting of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
