New class of ambassadors announced for the 2021-2022 year

“I’m very excited about our new crew of CoJMC Ambassadors,” said Alex Fernando, the CoJMC’s recruiting coordinator. “It’s going to be very fun working with them in the future and I hope to assist in their development to be powerful and impactful leaders, not only on this campus, but throughout the world.”

Sports media senior pilots podcast with Husker QB Adrian Martinez

Adrian Martinez had the idea to start the podcast and contacted Professor John Shrader for recommendations on who could help him start the podcast. Shrader recommended senior sports media communication and broadcasting major Geoff Exstrom, who was also the Co-Sports Director at KRNU. The duo designed the podcast to bring fans behind the scenes of collegiate athletics at Nebraska and at universities across the country through connections Martinez has made with other athletes.

Hearst National Championship Finalists Named

The William Randolph Hearst Foundation has announced the 29 journalism students representing 20 universities from across the country who will compete in the 61st annual National Writing, Photojournalism, Audio, Television and Multimedia Championships, June 5 – 14, 2021.

Mullin qualifies for the Hearst National Writing Championship

Luke Mullin, a recent graduate who majored in journalism and sports media and communication, qualified for the Hearst National Writing Championship. The Championship will take place beginning on May 25th, with the final judging occurring virtually on June 6.

Sommer and Chitrodom awarded for senior capstone designs

While at UNL May 2021 graduates Sabrina Sommer and Destiney Chitrodom studied advertising and public relations at CoJMC and graphic design at the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. Both graduates received prestigious awards for their senior capstone design projects.

CoJMC celebrates 217 graduates at first in-person commencement in over a year

Kappa Tau Alpha and Alpha Delta Sigma virtual induction

CoJMC students inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha and Alpha Delta Sigma honor societies

Twenty CoJMC students were virtually inducted into the Alpha Delta Sigma and Kappa Tau Alpha honor societies on April 30. Five students were inducted into Alpha Delta Sigma and 15 were inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha. Shari Veil, dean of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, was also inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha and received the Outstanding Service Award as a distinguished mentor and practitioner in risk and crisis communication.

Grad Profile: Meera Patel

Advertising and public relations senior Meera Patel is graduating this Saturday, May 8. Throughout Patel's time at the University, she has found her passion in web design. After starting classes in the CoJMC, she immediately knew that she was in the right spot.
