Huskers place second in regional National Student Advertising Competition

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln took second place in District 9 of the American Advertising Federation’s Virtual National Student Advertising Competition on April 16, 2021. District 9 includes colleges and universities in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. This year had the largest pool of competitors with a total of 10 teams. The five judges, who represented various disciplines in advertising, were from North Dakota, Arizona, Missouri, Texas and Colorado. UNL’s team lost by one tenth of a point to long-standing rival, Mizzou.

Huskers win 11 Society of Professional Journalists' awards

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications' Climate Change Nebraska project swept up 11 awards – five for first place and six for second – in a regional competition honoring the best in student journalism.

Five CoJMC students selected for prestigious Omaha Press Club scholarships

Students, faculty and alumni win at the Eric Sevareid awards

Six University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications students, one alum and Associate Professor John Shrader, took home awards from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association Eric Sevareid Awards Competition in April 2021.

Seline Lecture with Randy Essex

Bre TenHulzen wins top CoJMC presentation at Nebraska Research Days

Senior advertising and public relations major Bre TenHulzen began her university honors thesis project one year ago at the start of COVID-19 when she decided to research advertising during recessions throughout history and compare it to advertising patterns in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Five CoJMC majors named Chancellor’s Scholars

Five College of Journalism and Mass Communication majors were named Chancellor’s Scholars on March 26. To be named a Chancellor’s Scholar is the highest academic award the university offers to undergraduate students. These students have earned an A in every undergraduate class.

Luci Moran

Story about the challenges of motherhood wins Perry Photojournalism Challenge

Luci Moran, a senior ADPR and journalism major from Omaha, won the top prize in the Philip Perry Photojournalism Challenge on March 14 for her essay titled, “The Nature of Motherhood. Moran will receive a $10,000 scholarship to complete her studies at Nebraska.
