Student broadcasting work earns national NCAA honors

Broadcasting students have earned “Student Radio Call of the Week” honors twice this fall.
Sports broadcaster Michael Shively and Bailey Neel were doing the play-by-play for the Nebraska-McNeese State game on 90.3 KRNU. Their call of Ameer Abdullah’s game-winning touchdown reception was singled out for the “Call of the Week” Sept. 6.
The second “Call of the Week” honor was awarded to Ryan Swanigan and Jon Kipper of KRNU who called the De’Mornay Pierson-El to Tommy Armstrong Jr. touchdown during the Nebraska-Northwestern game Oct. 18.
The NCAA selects the best radio calls of the college football season and features them on the NCAA.com website.
