New ambassador class announced for the 2023-2024 school year

UNL’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications announced the newest class of student ambassadors. The team, led by Alex Fernando, CoJMC’s assistant director of recruitment, welcomed three students to the team in January and four students in April.

The CoJMC ambassadors serve the college by leading recruitment efforts, giving tours to prospective students and alumni, hosting workshops, welcoming students at admissions events and more.

Omaha sophomore Faith Worden has been a student ambassador since her freshman year. Like many of the students on the ambassador team, Worden has two CoJMC majors, advertising and public relations, and sports media and communications.

Worden was one of the current ambassadors who helped Fernando interview prospective ambassadors. She shared her personal experiences and answered questions about the role. She helps lead Nebraska high school workshops, gives tours and connects with prospective students through the mentorship program.

“I’ve had the opportunity to lead in so many different ways as a student ambassador, and I’m looking forward to creating new events and experiences for prospective students with the 2023-2024 ambassador team,” Worden said.

Worden shares instructions with fellow ambassadors during a CoJMC Connections event where ambassadors give prospective students and their parents a tour of the college, introduce them to faculty and alumni, then host a panel discussion.

The ambassador team’s main job is to connect with prospective students by sharing their involvement on campus and what student life is like at CoJMC and UNL. The team has students with different economic backgrounds, hometowns and campus involvement to ensure that all kinds of prospective students can picture themselves in Andersen Hall.

“This new class of ambassadors is a group of driven people who are excited and passionate about the College of Journalism and Mass Communications,” Worden said. “They’re eager to share that passion with students, and I know the variety of perspectives they bring will help usher in a fantastic new Husker class.”
