Five University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications seniors were named Chancellor’s Scholars on April 3, earning the University’s highest academic award.

The Chancellor’s Scholars who will be graduating in May 2024 are Drew Baldridge, an advertising and public relations major from York; Grant Hansen, a broadcasting and sports media and communication double major from Omaha; Hannah-Kate Kinney, an advertising and public relations and journalism double major from Omaha; Lauren Penington, a journalism major from Parker, Colorado and Alexandra Watson, an advertising and public relations major from Papillion.

Chancellor’s Scholars have maintained 4.0 grade-point averages on all collegiate work at Nebraska and elsewhere. As a testament to their outstanding achievement, Chancellor’s Scholars will be honored with special recognition during the May 2024 commencement ceremony. This recognition encompasses inclusion in the program, reserved seating among peers, presentation of a certificate, a commemorative pin, and the privilege of receiving their diploma ahead of their fellow graduates.

“Congratulations to Drew, Grant, Hannah-Kate, Lauren and Alexandra,” said Shari Veil, Jane T. Olson Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communication. “We are incredibly proud of your achievements and look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the future.”
