The 2023 MobileMe&You Conference, a journalism and technology conference about mobile media and digital technology best practices, was at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the National Center for Supercomputing Applications on Friday, Oct. 13. The event is co-sponsored by Nebraska’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
This year’s conference centered around storytelling on mobile media platforms while highlighting new techniques and best practices for newsgathering. Speakers discussed informing and engaging new audiences in the mobile era – particularly in the wake of artificial intelligence, 5G and expanding rural broadband.
Experts from The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Newsday, Loric Games, Northwestern University, Syracuse University and others covered various techniques and reporting tools, including bots, augmented and virtual reality, 360° video and mobile platforms. Speakers also discussed geographically targeted place-based messaging and audience engagement.
