Carla Kimbrough, M.A.

Associate Professor

Before she began teaching, Carla Kimbrough worked as a reporter, copy editor or assignment editor at newspapers in Nebraska, Arkansas, Tennessee, Ohio and Colorado. She started her career at the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal, where she worked as a reporter. Later, she was a reporter, copy editor and fill-in assignment editor at the Arkansas Gazette in Little Rock. She moved into management full time, working as a regional editor, city editor or night metro editor, at the Jackson (Tenn.) Sun, Marietta (Ohio) Times, Cincinnati Enquirer and Dayton Daily News. Her last position in the industry was at the Denver Post, where she was part of the senior management team and was responsible for newsroom recruitment and staff development.

A trained life coach, she is also the author of "Journey to the Land of Dream Come True," a fictional tale about achieving life goals.

She earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
