Stacy James teaches a variety of advertising courses including communications graphics, promotional writing, principles of strategic communications and the capstone advertising and public relations campaigns course. She earned a bachelor's degree in advertising from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

"My most important teaching goal is to help students become more knowledgeable and passionate about the business of strategic communications," she said. "I consider our students to be some of the best clients I've ever had, so it's a pleasure to work with them every day."

Before arriving at University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1988, James had 18 years of professional experience, including 13 years with advertising agencies in Kansas City and Lincoln, where she served in a variety of capacities including account service, public relations and creative. She also served five years on the "client side" as director of advertising and sales promotion for an international bedding products manufacturer.

"From a teaching perspective, I'm glad I've had both the agency and the client-side experiences. I can help students play to their strengths and areas of interest depending on the direction or business type I think best suits them."

James has been recognized with 15 University of Nebraska–Lincoln Parents Association Teaching awards, was selected as a Mortar Board "Muse in 2003" and as the Advertising Federation of Lincoln's Silver Medal Award recipient in 1999.
